Kansas Heritage

Dr. Thompson's family has lived in Kansas for over a century. His family roots trace back to 8 small family farms in central Kansas. His families' small town roots have resulted in his passion for community involvement and caring. At the Thompson Eye Clinic, we strive to provide care for our patients just as we would care for our family, friends, and neighbors.

After graduating from Shawnee Mission Northwest High School, he studied electrical engineering and pre-medicine at the University of Kansas. His research and work in physiology at the University of Kansas Medical Center helped spark his interest in medicine.

While at the University of Kansas, Dr. Thompson designed electronic circuits to aid in electrophysiologic research at the University of Kansas. Dr. Thompson's eye research has resulted in a number of publications including articles that have been featured on the covers of the journal of Ophthalmology regarding long term survival of corneal transplants, and Archives of Ophthalmology reviewing risk factors for corneal transplant failure.
